If one is traveling on the Olympic Peninsula in western Washington to visit Olympic National Park, I highly recommend stopping off the main Highway 101, near the city of Sequim, to visit the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Cultural Center. It’s right off the highway; you can’t miss it! This Pacific Northwest Coastal Tribe’s name means, ” strong people.” Visit the beautiful Native Art Gallery or marvel at the huge, magnificent totem poles and Native carvings on site, or take in a scenic view of an inlet of Puget Sound.

What a wonderful collection of Totem Poles. Number sixth from the top is my favorite.
Thank you! Yes, they are all a marvelous collection of art!
oh my this is a lovely post of the cultural center… I love the art work by northwest tribes, and the Jamestown tribe is unique in that they purchased their land rather than being granted a reservation, so they have more control over the area.
Thanks for stopping by and thank you for adding that interesting bit of information about the tribe purchasing their own land.
I would say, “Make it a long journey to ONP and stop and anything and everything on the way. You’ll be amazed at all that is out there on the peninsula.”
A very good piece of advice! Thanks!
